14 Nov 2016: Induction ends with pizza

New full-time undergraduate students who entered our programmes DT205 Mathematical Sciences and DT220 Industrial Mathematics in September 2016 recently enjoyed a social evening with pizza and soft drinks to mark the end of their extended induction. Student representatives from the later stages of the programme and staff of the School of Mathematical Sciences were there as well to enjoy a relaxed event, held in DIT, Kevin Street.

Extended induction events for our students have been taking place since before the start of lectures, allowing students to meet lecturers, get to know other students and to learn about the College of Sciences & Health and its support services and facilities. The induction is designed to ensure a smooth transition to third-level education, answer questions and address any difficulties. It also provides a source of valuable advice about studying at college, balancing study and social life and living away from home that will help students of the College throughout their studies.

During the induction, the students have got to know their Stage Tutor and other key sources of assistance and a fun social event was a very fitting way to bring the formal schedule of events to a close.
